New Calemard’s equipment installed at the North Carolina State University
We are pleased to announce the installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art 1.8-meter wide Orion slitter/rewinder at The Nonwovens Institute.
This custom built machine is designed to handle a variety of nonwoven materials including Spunbond, Meltblown and Carded/Needle Punched Staple Fibers. The installation at NWI can handle an input of up to 1.8-meters wide with a diameter of up to 1.2-meters running at up to 200-meters/minute and can slit product (material dependent) down to 30-mm wide with up to a 1 meter finished diameter. Orion slitter/rewinders can be provided commercially capable of slitting down to a 20 mm width.
NWI explains “Given the wide variety of products that could be run, the key to being so versatile is in the expertise found at Spoolex in precision tension control, thereby allowing for the highest product quality and versatility. For this project and throughout Canada, the US and Mexico, Spoolex”.
The Orion slitter-rewinder will be available for educational, training, and research & development use through NWI and for product incubation/commercialization use through NWI’s affiliate LINC.
